The Lerner Center works with campus and community partners to improve the health of Onondaga County residents, and to identify effective strategies that can be adopted by other communities.
Focus areas are determined in response to community need, as outlined by partners such as the Onondaga County Health Department, and via community input. The Center launched a community conversation on improving public health, with initial forum reports available here.
Current Lerner Center initiatives include the Healthy Monday Syracuse campaign, refugee health and school nutrition and physical activity.
A key means by which the Lerner Center will foster research, collaboration and action on community health issues is by funding projects that (a) take aim at important community health issues, (b) have the potential to make a significant difference in the health of the community, and (c) are prepared to rigorously assess their impact and share that data with the broader community.
